Judd Booker

Judd Booker 16, plays lock for Across
the Waves in the local BRL under 16 competition. He travels
from Childers twice a week to train with his team and to
coach the under 7's in the mini-mod league. Younger brother
Chad is a member of the team.
Waves President Steve Dickinson said "Judd is a valued
member of our Cub and our U16 team and he is also looking to
further his involvement in our Club and rugby league after
recently completing a mini-mod coaches course and is
coaching the ATW U7 side for the 2010 season. He has also
completed a League Safe Trainers Course enabling him to
support other teams where required as an on field trainer".
The Broncos supporter who named Jharal Yow Yeh as his
favourite player is somewhat of a a fitness fanatic and
plays Touch and League for his school. A keen student, Judd
plans on a career in the Air Force.
Georgia Webb

Sixteen year old Georgia Webb has been involved with Little A's
for the past six years, with her preferred events the Walks and
Throwing events. Georgia, a representative Soccer player and a
keen rower said that she was Panthers supporter and Petero
Civoniceva fan.
Bundaberg Little Athletics Centre Manager Sylvia McNamara said "
Georgia has completed her Sports Leaders Certificate as part of
the CAPS program and is now a qualified Official and Level O
coach. She was the CAPS Participant of the Year in 2008” Sylvia
added “ Georgia is the recording Officer on our Club committee
and is a busy worker around the Club”
Megan Silcox

Megan Silcox has played Softball since she was eleven and is
currently a member of the United A grade Ladies team. The
fifteen year old has represented Bundaberg, Wide Bay and
Queensland and aims to attain her level 1 coaching certificate
once she reaches the required age of sixteen. her favourite
sportsperson is Softballer Tanya Harding.
The Cowboys and Matt Bowen fan enjoys fishing and has an
interest in grooming and make-up.
Britney Clark

Fifteen year old Britney Clark has played Hockey with Cities for
nine years and has represented Queensland Schoolgirls and been
named a shadow player for the Queensland under 18's. Britney
followed older sister Caitlin, also a Queensland rep player into
the sport. The youngster named Australian Hockeyroos Captain
Nikki Hudson as her favourite player.
Both Britney and Caitlin play soccer with the North Bundaberg
Eagles and Britney plays Touch Football at school.

Michael Festing

Michael Festing is 13 years of age and is in grade 9 at
Bundaberg State High School. His main sports are Soccer,
Volleyball and Golf. He has been playing soccer since he was
6 and as a striker scored many goals before becoming a
specialized keeper and is a member of John Gorza's
Goalkeeping Australia Academy. In 2007 he made the Wide Bay
School Boys soccer team and competed at Brisbane at the
State Championships. To further assist in developing
his knowledge and understanding of the game he became a
referee which involves another nights training per week.
Last year was his first experience with the sport of
volleyball and he liked the game and played for the school
team at the state titles in Brisbane Encouraged by a good
friend to have a go at golf he found it great fun as well as
a serious challenge. Since then he became a member at
Bundaberg Golf Club, plays in the weekly junior competitions
and has had some success in men’s competitions.
Elizabeth Holloway

Fifteen year old Blazer player Elizabeth Holloway has played
Netball for nine years and has represented Bundaberg since she
was eleven. Elizabeth who umpired at the recent Queensland
Primary Schools Trials held in Bundaberg is a Firebirds
supporter and Laura Geitz fan.
She played her first season of cricket with Country Wests and is
looking forward to another crack at the game next year.
Elizabeth who enjoys music and plays the violin said her
favourite movie was 'Ten things I hate about you' is the latest

Amber Lutter

Amber Lutter has been playing Netball for nine years and
currently plays for Blazers Honda A Grade Team on Saturday
afternoons. the talented youngster has been selected in the
top Representative Team for BNA for 5 the past five years.
As a member of the Wide Bay Schools rep team, Amber will
travel to Barcaldine in June for for the State selection
trials where she hopes to gain selection in the Queensland
team.
Amber was a member of the Shalom College team which was
successful in last years Confraternity which involved
Queensland's Independent Highschools and is hopeful of a
similar result in 2009. As well as playing the game, Amber
is an accredited umpire who officiated most Saturdays.

Joshua Furby

Joshua Furby has been a Soccer referee for three years and
is now an assistant referee for Archem Premier League games.
The sixteen year old also plays for Across the Waves in
under 16’s and said refereeing was a way of putting
something back in to a game he loved. A Roar supporter, he
is a big fan of Craig Moore and Reinaldo..
He also is a rugby league and Broncos fan with Darren
Lockyer his favourite player. A keen sportsman, Joshua plays
Cricket and Touch for his school St. Lukes
Ashleigh Kaye

Ashleigh Kaye has played Netball since she was eight The fifteen
year old who plays for Across the Waves also plays Indoor
Netball and coaches a team in the ‘Purple Nippers’ as well as
being an assistant coach of the ATW 12 team.
She has represented Bundaberg and her rep coach Lyn Newport said
“Ashleigh is a good sport, who listens and learns and her
attitude is spot on”. She likes watching tennis on TV and is a
Roger Federer fan, however her favourite sportsperson is Aussie
Netballer Catherine Cox.
Martyn Bates

Martyn Bates played in the ATW under 15 side that won the under
16 grand final against the ATW under 16 side. The fifteen year
old wicketkeeper - batsman also played Soccer and Rugby League
for ATW but gave both up to concentrate on his cricket, which
has paid dividends as he represented Wide Bay at both schoolboys
and Club level this year.
A Rabbitohs fan Martyn said his favourite sportsmen were Michael
Clarke and Adam Gilchrist.
Mandy Cummins

Mandy Cummins, 16 is the
first ‘Telstra Top Teen’ and plays Touch with Matildas on Friday
night after having refereed an earlier junior game. Mandy has
represented Wide Bay in 08 and 09 with this year’s carnival to
be held in Brisbane in May. She also represented at the State
Cup and the All Schools Carnival in 2008
Her other sporting
interests include soccer, which she plays for Bundy High and
surf lifesaving. Mandy named Monette Russo an Australian
Artistic Gymnast as her favourite sportsperson, and said that
the Cowboys were her team in the NRL. Her hobbies include tie
dyeing and she enjoys creating her own t-shirts.

Josh
Millington

Josh Millington (14) has played tennis for
four years now, and said it was a fun game which provided the
opportunity to socialize with friends. Josh played soccer with
Brothers Aston Villa for eight years, but when forced to choose
between soccer and tennis, opted for tennis.
He also plays Touch on Friday nights with Falcons in the under
16/17 mixed competition. A Wests Tigers and Benji Marshall fan,
Josh admitted that his favourite movie was Bruce Almighty.
David Laurent

Fifteen year old David Laurent was attracted to softball because
it was a game his friends played and has played the game for
eight years now. The shortstop/pitcher is a member of the
Western Suburbs Lions and will contest the under 17 mixed grand
final against South Sluggers. He will represent Wide Bay in the
Softball State Championships at Redlands in September.
David also plays soccer with North Bundaberg and said his
favourite sportsperson was Arsenal’s French midfielder Samir
Nasri.

Lauren Baxter

Lauren Baxter has been a member of Queensland Little
Athletics for the past ten years. Lauren, an Under 16's Athlete, started
out in Tiny Tots in the Cassowary Coast Region before moving to
Bundaberg and joining the West Bundaberg Little Athletics Club. Lauren's
favourite track events would be 100 metre sprint and the sprint hurdles.
The North Bundaberg High student is also a keen Hockey player.
In between competition events on a Friday night, Lauren always helps out
in the canteen, which helps fund the club and also helps with all
other fundraising events, selling raffle tickets at different venues as
well as on club night. She regularly works with the Tiny Tots groups,
supporting and encouraging the athletes of the future.
Zak Bainbridge

Zak Bainbridge has proved to be a high achiever in his chosen
sport of Touch Football. Zak is captain of the Bundaberg U14
boys State Cup team, captain of the Central Queensland U14 team,
captain of the Queensland U14 team and has been selected in the
mens u20 Central Queensland team. He coaches a boys team in the
local junior competition and referees junior games.
A keen golfer the Bronco's supporter plays off a handicap of 15
and has played League and soccer for Across the Waves.
Damian Curran

Damian Curran has played cricket with Country Wests
since under 10's and is captain of the under
16 team. Predominantly a batsman, Damian had a top score
last season of 73 and has represented Bundaberg for the
past two years.
A keen soccer player and striker with Diggers, Damian
also plays Futsal and Volley Ball, a sport in which he
has represented Wide Bay. The fifteen year old is a
Broncos supporter and Matt Hayden fan who also plays the
cello.
Tennielle Crossett
Tennielle
Crossett is a thirteen year old girl with a passion for golf.
She has been a member of the Bundaberg Junior Golf Club for 5
years and when she’s not driving the fairways with the juniors,
Tennielle can be found competing against the ladies in their
Saturday Ladies Competitions. She attends Year 8 at Shalom
College and recently travelled to Gympie as a member of the
Bundaberg Golf Representative Team. Her long drives and close
chipping, paid off, as she was selected in the Wide Bay
Secondary Schools Golf Team that competed at the Gold Coast in
May 2009. Becoming a member of this team gave Tennielle more
confidence in herself and her skills and was a valuable
experience for the talented teenager.
2008 saw Tennielle be rewarded for her great sports attitude,
and commitment to practicing with the Co-ordinators Award and a
number of good rounds throughout the year. She is very lucky to
have the support of her parents who are often seen walking the
fairways supporting and encouraging their daughter. Although she
spends a great deal of her time on the golf course, Tennielle
also tries to slip in the odd game of tennis or two.
Sean Lomax

Sean Lomax plays his Rugby League with
Brothers under 15's and has represented Bundaberg over the past
three years. The strapping front rower is a Titans supporter but
said that Michael Crocker was his favourite player. Sean has
completed a refereeing course and would like to referee junior
and mini-mod games. He was chosen by his Club to represent them
at the BRL Academy Course. Older brother Kevin played for the
Balmain Tigers however Sean dreams of playing for the Titans.
Sean likes going fishing with his dad Tom and riding his trial
bike or racing around the family block at Pine Creek in the bush
basher. A keen gamer as well, the 'World of Warcraft' is his
game of choice

James Mills
Fifteen
year old James Mills has been playing tennis for the past three
years and in such a shirt time has shown an aptitude to the
game. A Club spokesperson said “As James skills have improved he
has become tactically a strong player with his serve and
backhand the strong points of his game.”
The youngster has a number of sporting interests, including
Karate, Table Tennis and trial bike riding. James named Aussie
Leyton Hewitt was his favourite sportsperson.
Angela Ballantine said James is a big help around the place on a
Saturday and was generous of his time with the youngsters.”
Britt Hart

Britt Hart has played Hockey with Rovers for the past four
years. The fourteen year old also plays Touch and Volleyball and
has represented Wide Bay in Touch Football. During the Touch
season, Britt regularly umpires on a Friday night.
She also enjoys being a member of dad Gary's pit crew where he
faces a Ford in Formula 500. A Cowboys supporter and Jonathon
Thurston fan, Britt enjoys 'hanging out' with her friends from
Bundy High and listening to Flo Rida.
Tayla Andrews
Tayla
Andrews is a keen sportswoman who has been selected in the
Bundaberg Netball under 15 team for the State Age Netball
Carnival next month in Ipswich. She will also represent Shalom
at the Qld independent Highschools Netball Carnival at
Caloundra.
She is a member of the Bundaberg Touch under 16’s contesting the
State Cup at Caboolture in July and was named in the under 15
Wide Bay Touch Team for the Qld Secondary School Touch Carnival
and is age Champion at Shalom in Athletics.
The fourteen year old is also an accredited Touch umpire and
officiates Friday night in the Junior Touch season. She
loves to motivate younger players and next year would like to
coach her own Friday night junior Touch team and be an assistant
coach for a younger team at her Netball club ATW4.

Samantha Crook

Fifteen year old Samantha Crook plays Indoor Netball as a member
of KG Stars. The predominantly young team were well beaten in
their last start by The Woodies.
Samantha is a well credentialed junior umpire and controlled
games at the Challenge Carnival, a State Event this year.
Bundaberg Netball Association President Greg Kuhnel said
"Samantha has her National C grade badge and is a quality umpire
who is a credit to the game, she was the recipient of the Wyman
Award for service to Netball this year".
The Shalom year 11 student is a Broncos and Darren Lockyer fan
who loves going to the movies.
Steven Grogan

Steven Grogan (15) has played AFL with Brothers Bulldogs for ten
years following dad Brad and older brother Andrew into the
sport, as has younger brother Jayden. He has represented Wide
Bay at both Club and School level and is an umpire in the ‘Aus
Kick’ junior program on Friday nights.
A talented cricketer as well, the all-rounder had a top score of
108 this year with best figures of 5-25 with the ball. A
Brisbane Lions supporter, Steven said that Lions midfielder
Simon Black was his favourite player.
Joshua Metcalf

Joshua Metcalf 16 has played Soccer for 11 years and has
represented Bundaberg and Wide Bay since under 11’s. He was
a member of the Wide Bay Open Schoolboys team at the State
Championships this year.
Joshua also plays Touch and was the leading try scorer in
the season just finished. He also plays Touch and Rugby
League for his school and is a Broncos supporter though his
favourite sportsman is Barcelona superstar Thierry Henry.

Katie Steemson

Katie Steemson (13) has played Hockey for Raiders since starting
in under 8’s and not only has she represented Wide Bay, Katie
was a member of the Queensland Development Squad last year. A
talented athlete with a preference for the sprint events she is
regularly age champion at the Gin Gin High School.
A Cowboys and Jonathon Thurston fan, she likes nothing better
than riding her pony ‘Sweetheart’ or having a swim at Bucca
Crossing.
Josh McLeod

With parents always at the Golf Club, it
wouldn’t be long before Josh McLeod picked up some clubs and
started hitting the fairways of the Bundaberg Golf Club. Josh’s
enthusiasm for golf started around 12 months ago after hitting
some balls at the driving range. Eager to learn more about the
sport, he joined the Junior Golf Club and hasn’t looked back.
With an aim to lower his handicap, he spends many hours on the
course and practise greens.
In 2008 Josh won the Professionals Award and was also a Junior
Club Champion. This year he has represented Bundaberg in Gympie
as a member of the Primary Schools Golf Team and has also
represented his club as a member of the winning Junior Pennants
Team. Josh’s other sporting interests include tennis and
football but his true passion is with golf.
Shellie Munyard

Thirteen year old North Bundaberg high student Shellie Munyard
has played softball for five years. The short stop/catcher has
represented Wide Bay for the past three years and Bundaberg for
the past four. Shellie will be the youngest member of the Wide
Bay High School team at the upcoming state titles in Noosa.
She also plays Touch and Basketball, but her passion is
Softball. Natalie Thompson, her coach at Eels said “Shellie
follows directions, plays to her best and is a good team
member”.
Callum Stitt

Fifteen year old Callum Stitt has a passion for Cricket and
Soccer, if pushed though he admits to a preference for cricket.
A batting all rounder, Callum who had his first taste of div. 1
last year, scored 108no.for Bundaberg in the representative
clash with South Burnett this season. He has represented Wide
Bay at both school and club level this year and will be a member
of the Wide Bay Open Schoolboys team at the Queensland titles in
October.
Callum who plays centre-mid for Across the Waves in soccer has
refereed junior games for the past four years. The youngster is
a big fan of Phillip Hughes who scored centuries in both innings
against South Africa in the second test.
