Scott Hawkins, a year 8 student at Kepnock High
School is one of the growing number of youngsters taking to the bowling
greens. Scott, a member at the Burnett Bowls Club is the Club’s 2007
Junior Singles Champion. Burnett Bowls Club Junior Liaison Officer Des
Kemp said “Scott is a young man with a lot of talent and is seen as a
bowler of the future.
Scott is also a keen cyclist and a member of the Bundaberg Cycling Club
and is the first lawn bowls “Cold Rock Star”.

Q.R.I.
Last Sunday morning (31st August), Q.R.I. bowlers
played for trophies donated by Steve Lancaster and Danny Cummings.
The winners for the morning went to H. Foster and F. Cook with the
runners up being T. Treichel and J. Waters. The Sportspersons award
went to D. & G. McCracken.
Next game for Q.R.I. bowlers will be on Sunday morning 14th
September, to play Mixed Triples for trophies donated by Eileen Bale
and Sylvia McNamara combined with visiting bowlers from Isis. Names
are to be in by 9am on the day or beforehand on the sheet provided
at Burnett Bowls Club with play starting at 9.30am.
Beginning on Wednesday 3rd September through to Friday 5th
September, Bundaberg branch of Q.R.I. Bowlers will be hosting the
60th Anniversary State A.G.M. and Carnival at Burnett and Tantitha
Bowls Clubs. The Carnival will be officially opened on Wednesday
morning at 8.15am by Councillor Danny Rowleson at Burnett Bowls
Club. Visitors are welcome to come along and meet up with old
Railway friends from branches around the State which include
Charters Towers, Cloncurry, Townsville, Sarina, Rockhampton,
Emerald, Gladstone, Maryborough, Gympie, Ipswich and Brisbane, all
of who will be competing in what promises to an exciting three days
of bowling.
