Bundaberg Athletic Club Inc
and West Bundaberg Little Athletics

Club
Championships
International discus thrower, Taryn Gollshewsky, was
named the Bendigo Bank 'athlete of the year' at the presentation of
awards at Kuorikoski Oval on Sunday afternoon to top off a stellar year
for the young star of the Bundaberg Athletic Club and West Bundaberg
Little Athletics.
Taryn has been recognized by the national body as a rising star of the
future and was chosen in Australian teams to compete overseas in Canada
and Italy over the past twelve months. Her improvement under coach, Les
Kuorikoski, has shown she is capable of mixing it with the best and she
can look forward to further success in the future.
Club coach, Robert Hooper, was recognized for his tireless work coaching
the club's emerging sprinters and long jumpers, as well as officiating
and was a worthy recipient of the performance, service and attitude
award from the club.
Among the junior athletes who were awarded for their impressive
improvements during the season, was Kielan Major who learned on Friday
that he was appointed as team captain of the Queensland Little Athletics
team to travel to Sydney at the end of this month.
Rheed McCracken will be in Melbourne this weekend for the AWD national
championships and after his record-breaking performances in Brisbane
recently, he is in top form to compete against the best in Australia.
While the club itself is in recess, Kuorikoski Oval will be in demand
for the school carnivals over the winter months and the techniques and
coaching the club athletes have received over the past months should
show top results at their school events. The club will resume for the
2011-12 summer season on 2nd September and details of the sign-on will
be advertised.
