Christian Devon was the big
improver in the Cross Country run at Thabeban last week. He took
almost 3 minutes off his previous time for the 2 kilometre
course, running it in 9.54.1.
Bryce Rosser was the other big “loser” with his 1 k run of
9.11.1, well down from the 12 minutes of the 1st round. Fastest
in the 1K course was Corey Ingram (U10), who came through the
tape in 4.45.4. Not far back was U8, Elizabeth Newell, who
continues to show talent in the event. Her time was 5.14.0.
Visitor, Brandi Alberts from Hervey Bay was in fine form when
she took out the 3k run in 13.12.8. Brandi is preparing for the
next level of school championships after illness and was pleased
with her efforts.

Isis Little Athletics Club
Annual
Awards and Presentation Night
The Isis
District Little Athletics Centre had 18 representatives
compete at the Queensland Little Athletics State Championships
at Brisbane recently.
There was excitement in the Isis camp when under 9 athlete, Rhia
Blair and Bradley Cole (Under 14) received medals. With her
first time at State level, Rhia had a very successful weekend,
taking home a silver medal in the 800m race with a time of
2.56.42, which was a personal best for her. Rhia’s dad, Brett
was so excited he was having trouble trying to keep his video
camera under control towards the end of the race.

Bradley Cole, who has been to the State Championships several
times, received a silver medal in the 90m hurdles with a time of
13.48, and a gold medal in the 200m hurdles with a time of
27.70, which were both personal bests for him.
For Reece Barnett-Anderson, Celina Facey, Justin Lewis, Shay
Anderson, Simone Manski, Jake Taylor, Jade Johnson, Alex Hansen
and Onnameeka Baars, it was their first time at State, and they
acquitted themselves well. Many of their PB’s were broken in
spite of the wet and cool conditions on the Friday and Saturday.
Rebecca Manski, Katy Cole, Grace Randell, Jack Randell, Kali
Sapsford, Kandace La Rocca and Aaron La Rocca have competed at
the Queensland Sport and Athletic Centre on previous occasions
and relished the chance to catch up with friends and enjoy the
competition.

Isis District
Little Athletics Centre held their 8th Annual Awards and
Presentation celebrations at the Childers Showgrounds last
Friday night.
With 141 registered athletes this season, it was another very
successful and busy time for committee, athletes and their
families. This is the most number of registered athletes that
Isis have had since the club started in 2000.
Special guests were Phil & Sylvia McNamara, Maynard & Trish
Heap, Darren & Sandie Green and Alison Leeson.

Junior boy and girl champions
Alexander Brighton and Simone Manski.
Proceedings began with the annual general meeting, which
included electing a new committee for the upcoming season. The
committee comprises of – Centre Manager Andrew Cole, Secretary
Rachael Brighton, Treasurer Linda Manski, Registrar Rhonda
Blair, Assistant Registrar Carmel Randell, Publicity Officer
Janelle deJong, Program/Records Karen Cole, Coaching Officer
Kerri Wills, Technical Officer Andrew Cole, Committee – Trish
Lewis.
Centre Manager then began with the presentation of trophies. The
first presentation was the Clubmanship Awards, and they were
presented to “The Tiny Tots” co-ordinators – Rachael Brighton,
Emma Salter and Gayle Dilger. These three ladies, along with the
assistance of many other parents, have been very helpful with
the running of the tiny tots program this year. Congratulations
ladies.

Thomas Green (senior encouragement award
winner).
right: Rhia Blair (junior encouragement award winner)
At this stage, the athletes were very keen to find out who our
champions were for the season. The Junior Encouragement award
went to under 9 competitor Rhia Blair. Rhia has put in a superb
effort this season, which included gaining a silver medal for
the 800m race at the recent state championships in Brisbane.
Next up was the Senior Encouragement award, which was awarded to
under 11 athlete Thomas Green. This was the first season for
Thomas, he was a regular training sessions, always put in a 100%
effort in each event, and even though he wasn’t feeling well at
the regional carnival in February, he still put in a superb
effort.
Under 9 athlete Simone Manski took out the junior girl champion.
Simone competed very well this season, making lots of
improvements in all of her events. Runner up to Simone was under
7 athlete Annika Langeveld. This was Annika’s first season, and
competed very well, achieving many personal bests.

Senior boy and girl champions- Bradley Cole
and Teagan McDonald.
Senior girl champion this season went to under 11 athlete Teagan
McDonald. This was Teagan’s first season, and she had a very
successful season, achieving lots of pb’s. Runner up to Teagan,
was closely contested by under 14 athlete Grace Randell. Grace
has been with the club for a few seasons now, and every year she
continues to improve.

Junior boy champion went to under 7 Alexander Brighton, with
runner up being shared by under 6 athlete Gavin Tsakisiris and
under 10 athlete Jack Randell. These 3 athletes continued to
make many improvements in every event they participated in this
season.
It was no surprise that the senior boy champion went under 14
athlete Bradley Cole. There wasn’t a week that went by, that
Brad didn’t break a record. Brad had a very successful season
this year, not only with lots of records, but also receiving a
gold and silver medal at the recent state championships in
Brisbane. He received a silver in the 90m hurdles and a gold in
the 200m hurdles. A close runner up to Brad was presented to
Jeremy Haaksma, who is also an under 14 athlete. Jeremy made
many improvements every week.
All athletes were then presented with plaques and achievement
certificates.
With the awards out of the way, everyone then enjoyed a
barbecue, prepared by the committee, followed by sweets.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for a
wonderful season. Congratulations to all the athletes on their
achievements and I hope we will see you all back next season.
