Mackenzie Lewis

Eight year old Mackenzie looks forward to Friday nights and Little A's. The hurdles are her pet event now, although high jump was her  favourite before she bruised her tail bone on landing.

The youngster is also keen on swimming and basketball and is keen on having a crack at netball and touch football.

Cory Ingram

Eleven year old Cory Ingram is enjoying his first year of Little A's and said that the 800 metres was his preferred event. The youngster also plays Rugby League for Across the Waves and Touch Football and is a Cowboys supporter and Jonathan Thurston fan

In his spare time Cory likes riding his bike and is keen on having a crack at gymnastics.

Skye Rathbone

Ten year old Skye Rathbone is playing in her first season of junior cricket with the Brothers under 11 team and has been chosen in the Wide Bay schools team as an all-rounder. The youngster who enjoys back yard cricket with her brothers Alastair and Simon along with her mum and dad said that 'Murphy' their kelpie was the best fielder. She added that Mitchell Johnston was her favourite cricketer.

Skye also plays tennis and has a passion for polocrosse and competes regularly at Calliope and Acton Downs near Rockhampton.

Kyle Luthe

Nine year old Kyle Luthe has played Tennis for three years and said that Leyton Hewitt was his favourite player. Angie Ballantine said “Kyle had a successful season and was named Overall Runner Up, and as well claimed a Most Improved Player award and an Attendance Award": He is a keen swimmer as well, and is a member of the Fairymead Club, with breaststroke his preferred style.

Kyle supports both the Broncos and Cowboys and is a Darren Lockyer and Matt Bowen fan. A budding musician, Kyle plays both the cello and the piano.

Shannon Purkis

Five year old Shannon Purkis is enjoying her first year as a T-Baller and looks forward to Saturday mornings. She attends Oakwood Prep School where she likes PE and playing with her friends. The budding athlete broke the 60 metres sprint record at school earlier this year.

At home she likes spending time with mini-foxy 'Dora' and riding her bike under the house. Shannon said that backyard cricket was a lot of fun, until brother Christopher broke the bat.

Shanae Spry

Shanae Spry is in her first season of Indoor Netball, a sport she describes as 'fun and fast' and it gives her the opportunity to spend time with friends Grace, Kate and Brooke. She is also a keen hockey player and has played with All Black for two years now.

A Broncos and Darren Lockyer fan, Shanae is another budding St. Pats musician with the cello her preferred instrument. The Spry household is something of a menagerie where the youngster spends time with staffy 'Shi'. a cockatoo aptly named 'Cocky' and fourteen year old horse 'Lady'.

Xelinne “Sunshine” Ryan-Andrews

At 11 years of age, Xelinne “Sunshine” Ryan-Andrews is a Taekwondo Champion. She was first introduced to the sport at the age of 6 and with a lot of hard work, practice and dedication she became an Australian Champion (red belt) at 9 years of age. 2008 saw her win her division and be named an Australian Black Belt Champion. She is a member of the ASP Taekwondo and regularly trains 3 times a week.

Her goal is to compete at the World Championships when she turns 14. And the way Sunshine is going, she looks set to be one tough competitor. She recently joined Across the Waves Soccer Club and enjoys being a part of a team. Xelinne loves her sport and gives 100% in everything that she sets her mind too.

Tully Davies

Tully Davies plays tennis because it is 'fun and an active sport'. The six year old who said Roger Federer was his number 1 player also plays soccer at school and is a Cowboys supporter and Matt Bowen fan.

Tully is a keen dancer who likes Tap and Hip Hop

Josh Adcock

Josh Adcock has played tennis for two and a half years and loves it,. The nine year old also plays soccer and scored a goal for Diggers in the under 10's against Brothers Aston Villa Mites on Saturday. He is a Titans supporter and Scott Prince fan who enjoys playing cricket in the neighbourhood cul-de-sac with his friends.

Josh and cousin Mitchell Pape enjoy their coaching session together on Tuesday and the pair are also great rivals when they play  'Virtual Tennis 3'.

Shauna Scarborough

Shauna Scarborough followed her two older brothers (Hayden and Lachlan) into soccer. The eight year old plays for North Bundaberg and likes the game because it is fun. A Titans and Scott Prince supporter, Shauna is keen on dancing, singing and music and plays the cello at school.

She said that High School Musical was the best movie she had seen and when not using her hoola hoop or rip stik, she liked playing with her boxer cross Washington.

Wade Hogan

Young Bundaberg gymnast Wade Hogan came home with a six medal haul after competing at the Regional Championships for Sunshine Coast/Brisbane North Region held at Brisbane Grammar over the weekend. The talented youngster was placed 1st in vault and parallel bars, 2nd in Floor, high bars and pommel and 2nd overall with a score of 55.8 points.

Wade, who trains four times per week at the Wide Bay Gymnastics Club Hervey Bay, has qualified for the State Championships to be held in Brisbane 27th June

Lainey Thorpe

Seven year old Lainey Thorpe who followed older sister Shannen into the sport of netball is enjoying her second year and proudly dons her lilac skirt on a Saturday. Lainey is a Broncos supporter and Israel Folau fan and her hobbies are collecting stickers and tattoos.

The grade three student at Wests Primary School likes school and admitted that the best part of the day was lunchtime. She is a big fan of the cartoon channel Nickelodeon and loves spending time with her mini foxy ‘Kelly’.

Jordan Smith

Six year old Jordan Smith joined his St Lukes schoolmates Coby and Hamish on the tennis courts and loves the game and spends Wednesday afternoons at the Rotary Park courts under the guidance of Kevin Banner. Kevin said “Jordan is a real livewire who enjoys the game and is always willing to have a go’.

Jordan is involved in a number of sports such as Aus Kick, Touch Football and Swimming. A keen Broncos supporter the youngster has been to a number of Broncos games with his dad. In his spare time he watches Ben 10 on TV and when at school he looks forward to Art classes and creating dinosaur footprints.

Hayden Pfingst

Nine year old Hayden Pfingst enjoys his sport. The youngster plays AFL with the Brothers Bulldogs, Cricket and Rugby League also with Brothers and finds time for Tennis with Murray Whitbread and Kevin Banner. Named after Matt Hayden, not surprisingly he lists Matt Hayden and Cowboys Matt Bowen as his sporting idols. His AFL Coach Steve Barlow said “Hayden has the makings of a good full forward and reads the game well”.

Hayden who also play the trumpet said Math’s was his favourite subject at school.

Joshua Clarke

Seven year old Joshua Clarke has played soccer for the North Bundaberg Eagles for four years now and would like nothing better than to follow in the footsteps of dad Craig in becoming a top goal keeper. The youngster is also keen on water skiing and wave boarding behind dad’s boat ‘Grey Ghost’.

A true rev head Joshua is a big fan of the V8 Supercars and Craig Lowndes in particular and likes  playing ‘Need for Speed’ on his playstation. His favourite TV show is the Simpsons and Joshua also enjoys Hip Hop classes at the PCYC. When asked what he particularly liked to eat, it was back to Martens Oval where he has a liking for their chicken breast crackles.

Tamika Morrice

Tamika Morrice has just finished her first season of Teeball. The eight year old, who has a preference for batting, followed older sisters Taleasha and Tearnee into the sport. She also plays tennis at school.

A Broncos supporter with a passion for horses, Tamika said that Stephanie Rice was her favourite sportsperson. In her spare time she likes riding her bike, watching H20 on TV and playing with her pup ‘Zarley’.

Grace Whaleboat

Grace Whaleboat is a busy Miss who plays Indoor Netball, Softball (South Sluggers) and Touch as a member of the Magic on a Friday night. The nine year old is a Broncos supporter and while she does not have a favourite player said her mum was a Karmichael Hunt fan.

A Hannah Montana tragic with a dog ‘Olly’ and a cat ‘Cassie’, Grace also plays the cello as does another of our Cold Rock Star Joe Williams. When asked why the cello Grace said simply “You get to sit down when you play the cello but you have to stand up to play the violin” Beautiful!

Joe Williams

Nine year old Joe Williams is a batsman/wicketkeeper who plays with YMCA in the under 10’s Joe has had a top score of 23no. and boasts bowling stats of 3-3. A keen soccer player with Across the Waves he scored an impressive nine goals in one game.

A mad South Sydney Rabbitohs fan he is wrapped that his grandparents (Arlene and Nev) are giving him a Rabbitohs jersey for his birthday. He named Adam Gilchrist and Harry Kewell as his sporting heroes. The St. Patrick’s student is a budding musician who has played the cello for two years.

Ramiah Bowden

Eleven year old Ramiah Bowden has a passion for Softball. Even though he plays Rugby League at school his preferred sport is Softball. His aunt Lucy Bowden, the Wests A grade pitcher has had a strong influence on her nephew. The right field player has represented Bundaberg in school Softball and hopes to represent in Wide Bay this year.

The Cowboys and Matt Bowen fan is also a keen athlete with the 800 metres his pet event.

Alex Schrader

Eleven year old Alex Schrader has signed on first his first season of Rugby League, After a season of soccer with Brothers Aston Villa Alex will follow the family tradition and play League. His only taste of league to date has been back yard contests with older brother Ben. A Manly supporter he named Brett Stewart as his favourite player.

The youngster left the Brothers sign on to play Touch with ‘Magpies’ in the 10-11 year competition. A keen athlete, Alex has represented his school in the sprints and also is a keen angler and water skier.

Joel Saunders

Eleven year old Joel Saunders is the first ‘Cold Rock Star’ for 2009. Joel who plays for Brothers Blue in the under 12 competition has represented both Bundaberg and Wide Bay. The all rounder and occasional wicketkeeper has a top score of 43 with 3-4 from 2 overs his bets performance with the ball.

His favourite sportsperson is Brett lee, and Joel has had his photo taken with his idol. Joel is also keen on rugby league and the half back with Easts is a Melbourne Storm supporter.

Ryan Newton

Ryan Newton is currently in his fourth season of Touch Football and is a member of ‘Hawks’ in the 10-11 years age group. A keen Softballer, Ryan will represent Bundaberg this year as a catcher.

He also has a liking for Rugby League, and the Broncos supporter and Darren Lockyer fan will play in the forwards for ATW again this year. Ryan also plays Soccer at school and his favourite TV show is the Simpson's.

Cassidy Holmes

Eight year old Cassidy Holmes started with West Bundaberg Little Athletics as a 'Tiny Tot'. The youngster who now competes in under 9's said that High Jump and Turbo Jav were her preferred events. Cassidy is a keen Netballer with the 'Lilac Nippers' and a budding gymnast. She is a Brisbane Lions supporter and will remain so despite her cousin Daniel Bradshaw heading to the Sydney Swans.

She likes school, with drama her favourite subject and in her spare time likes playing with her mini foxy Roxy and pet mouse Ingrid.

Rachelle Blair

Four year old Rachelle Blair is enjoying her time in the 'Tiny Tots' at little A's The things she likes most is running and the lollies.

Rachelle likes watching sport, basketball in particular and she loves watching uncle Malachi in the boxing ring.

Will Felesina

Will Felesina played his first game of Touch Football against Joeys last Friday night. Will has recently returned from a trip to Italy with his parents and was mighty impressed by the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

The youngster, who is a keen swimmer with breaststroke his preferred stroke went to the Broncos Titans game at Suncorp Stadium and is now a rugby league devotee. In his spare time Will plays Wii games on his computer.

Jaden Bond

Jaden Bond (9) has played cricket with Norths for the past four seasons and has the makings of an all rounder, with six wickets in a match and a top score of 22. His cricketing idol is Brett Lee A Brisbane Lions supporter, Jaden is yet to be convinced that Brendan Fevola is the right man for the Lions, but remains hopeful.

He also plays Soccer for Norths and has represented his school in Athletics. Jaden also finds time to play the violin and is a member of the school choir.

Brendan Wenban

Ten year old Brendan Wenban has played Hockey for four years and followed Mum Liz and siblings David and Kristie into the sport. The Arrows junior said he particularly liked the tackling aspect of the game.

The young revhead who admitted to being a Craig Lowndes fan will no doubt be watching the Phillip Island endurance race on Sunday and is looking forward to seeing Lowndes drive a Holden next season. Brendan a Titans supporter also plays Softball with Wests and is a Simpsons fan with Bart his favourite character.

Kate Gill

Being the grand daughter of Netball stalwart Daph Geddes, nine year old Kate Gill certainly has the pedigree for Netball. Kate. a Pink Nipper who said former Australian captain Viki Wilson was her favourite sportsperson, has played the game for three years and also enjoys Indoor Netball and T Ball.

A keen musician, she plays the violin and is also a choir member at St. Pats. In her spare time she listens to Lily Allen, watches Neighbours and spends time with her cat 'Murrie'

Milan Ryan-Andrews

He may be only 5 years of age, but Milan is a little guy with loads of passion for the game of golf. With a mean golf swing and an eye for putting, Milan Ryan-Andrews is Bundaberg Golf Clubs answer to “Tiger Woods”. “Milan shows great potential” says Junior Co-ordinator Geoff Loveday. “He can’t wait to get out on to the course each Saturday, he really does love it and it’s great to see such young players with such passion and enthusiasm”.

Milan started playing golf at the age of 3 and there’s been no stopping him since. He plays each Saturday and has even competed in a number of competitions in the Wide Bay. Many people have been surprised at how small he is and how far he can hit a ball, he really does connect well and his drives just fly. Milan attends kindy at Norville State School and can’t wait to join the school chess club. He has also joined the Squirt Club (soccer) which he finds challenging, is lots of fun and has made some new friends as well. Milan loves to watch the professional golfers on tv and dreams that one day he will play just like his idol, Tiger Woods.

Lachlan Cant

Lachlan Cant has just finished his first year of tennis and loves the game, so much so that he now spends Saturday on the courts rather than the soccer fields. Saturday was a good day as he won his singles 9-2. Lachlan said the Rafael Nadal was his favourite player and that he was Titans supporter and Scott Prince fan.

Lachlan also enjoys Taekwondo and is going for his yellow belt soon.

Ben Oliver

Eleven year old Ben Oliver has played Rugby League since under 7's. A half back with the Brothers under 11's The youngster is a Broncos supporter and Justin Hodges fan and followed older Brother Mark (under 14's) into the game.

A keen Touch player as well, Ben will represent Bundaberg at the upcoming State Cup being held at Caboolture. In his spare time he likes watching the Simpsons, with Homer his favourite character.

Shae Grohn

Twelve year old Shae Grohn has played Netball for seven years. The wing attack with ATW 8 has represented Wide Bay in Netball, Cross Country and Touch but has a preference for Netball. The youngster is also a keen dancer and loves 'Hip Hop'

She is a Titans supporter and has had her photo taken with her number 1 player Jonathon Thurston and admits her favourite TV show is 'Home and Away'.

Josh Hull

Nine year old Josh Hull has played soccer with Moore Park sine he was seven, no doubt influenced by dad Craig his coach. A keen Softballer, Josh plays for the Eels along with his cousins.

A Titans and Scott Prince supporter he likes going fishing with his dad, his best catch to date a 36cm. cod. Josh said his favourite TV show is The 70’s Show and again dad’s influence comes to the fore with AC/DC his band of choice. The youngster aims to be a builder when he grows up.

Maja  Gaedtke

Twelve year old Maja (Midge) Gaedtke has played hockey with Rovers since she was four. Mum Eleonora who now coaches her daughter in under 13’s, along with older sisters Talisha and Shynice were instrumental in Maja playing hockey. A Wide Bay representative, Maja said that Nikki Hudson the Australian Hockeyroos Captain was her favourite sportsperson.

The youngster is a keen dancer with a passion for Tap and Hip Hop as well as being A Broncos supporter and Darren Lockyer fan.

Dylan Cairney

Dylan Cairney has played soccer with the North Bundaberg Eagles ever since he was old enough to play the game. Predominantly a striker his best performance has been three goals in the one game. Even though he is a Cowboys and Jonathon Thurston fan his all round favourite sportsperson is David Beckham. Dylan has represented as both striker and goalkeeper for Bundaberg but is a reluctant keeper.

The twelve year old plays League and Touch at school, but when it comes to playstation his passion for soccer comes to the fore with FIFA 09 his game of choice.

Charlotte Boge

Charlotte Boge had her first taste of Tennis when Bundaberg and District Junior Tennis Association coach Kevin Banner held a clinic at her school St. Mary’s earlier this year. The five year old enjoys her sessions at the Rotary Courts on a Wednesday.

The youngster is also a keen swimmer and dancer who enjoys ballet, tap and jazz. Charlotte is a Broncos supporter, no doubt influenced by her grandmother a reputed Broncos fanatic. Being the daughter of Brothers stalwart David Boge, Charlotte enjoys a game of backyard cricket with younger siblings  Oliver and Eliza.

Jaimee McLeod

Nine year old Jaimee McLeod loves nothing better than being out in the fresh air and there’s no better way of doing that than on the golf course. A year ago Jaimee joined the Bundaberg Golf Club and turns up every Saturday to do battle.  Jaimee last year became a club champion for 4 holes. She has now progressed to 6 holes and is now striving even harder.

She thinks the best part of her game is her drives, she has a good solid swing and often goes straight down the middle of the fairway. Most Friday afternoons Jaimee can be found on the course having a hit with her parents and her brother. Jaimee has joined with some of her Norville School friends to play soccer for Diggers Under 11 Girls Team. ‘Soccer’s great too, I really love running around” says Jaimee. Her other interests are tennis, reading and hanging out with her friends.

Demi Burgess

Demi Burgess has played ‘Nippers’ for three years and also enjoys Basketball and Indoor Netball. The eight year old is a Bundy Bears fan and said that Heidi Freeburn was her favourite player. Demi plays the violin and likes watching the Simpsons on TV with Lisa her pet character.

She looks forward to the school holidays and her camping and fishing trips with her grandparents at Miara. Demi also likes spending time with her two dogs, Star a staffy and Thunder a beagle and joins sister Jamie as a ‘Cold Rock Star

Connor Riseley

Nine year old Connor Riseley has been playing golf for twelve months now and loves the game. The Bundaberg Junior Golf Club member played in his first competition last year and won a monthly medal and was named as the most improved. Connor said "the best thing about golf is being able to play with my mates".

The youngster has participated in karate for the last 18 months and has obtained his green belt and recently attended his first tournament where he gained valuable experience. A 'rev head', Connor likes watching the V8 supercars with his Dad and said his favourite sports person is Craig Lowndes.

Brendan Murray

Brendan Murray has been playing Hockey for three years now with Raiders and admits that ‘Aunty Carla’ had been a big influence on his playing the game. The eleven year old who plays Soccer at school is a Broncos and Darren Lockyer fan.

He like playing ‘Call of Duty 4’ on his playstation and likes to go yabbying , though mum Donna’s insistence on catch and release takes some of the fun out of it. Brendan joins sister Gemma as a Cold Rock Star.

Nell Elphinstone

Six year old Nell Elphinstone had her first taste of Nippers at the Netball courts on Saturday. The year one student at St. Patrick’s was keen to join some of her classmates in the sport. She also is a member of the Courtney Reynolds Tennis Academy and competes in Little A’s on Friday night, with the running events her favourites.

Nell likes the cartoons on TV, with the Cartoon Network and the Simpsons among her first choice programs.

Emily Bust

Eleven year old Emily Bust attends the Biggenden State School, and her favourite subject is Maths.

This is Emily’s first year at the Isis District Little Athletics Centre, and her favourite event is high jump, an event in which she came third at the recent 2009 Central Coast Regional Championships held in Bundaberg, where she jumped a personal best of 1.05m.

Emily also enjoys playing soccer as well, and she also likes spending time her Labrador puppy 'Oscar'.

Jason Clements

Twelve year old Jason Clements has played tennis for three years under the guidance of Kevin Banner and Murray Whitbread. Jason won the recent Development Tournament in Bundaberg. A huge Roger Federer fan the youngster said he was shattered when Nadal beat Federer in the Australian Open.

Jason has played hockey and is into rugby league and athletics at school.

Krysten Green

Krysten Green (8) has been playing Hockey for four years and followed dad Paul and brother Martin into the game. She plays for Arrows/Athletics and said “the game is fun and it is good being in the same team as friends Wally, Elaine and Georgia”.

Her favourite player is Troy Elder. Krysten, who admits to being a Pink fan also likes Touch Football and plays with Marlins in the Friday night competition.

Chloe Chadwick

Chloe Chadwick followed her dad Dave into the sport of Cricket, and like her dad bowls spin. She plays with Norths in the under 10 division and has taken the occasional wicket, though she missed out on Saturday. The eight year old Norville Primary School student will play her second season of Rugby League with Easts in 2009. A Melbourne Storm and Billy Slater fan, Chloe attended Storm home games with her family when they lived in Melbourne.

The youngster is also a keen tennis player and is a member of the Courtney Reynolds Tennis Academy. Congratulation Chloe, you are the 100th ‘Cold Rock Star’.

Walker Welsh

Walker Welsh has played Tennis under the guidance of Kevin Banner and Murray Whitbread since she was old enough to hold a racket. The nine year old like many others has watched the progress of Jelena Dokic throughout the Australian Open. Coach Kevin Banner said “Walker is as keen as any, trys hard and runs all day”.

A Broncos supporter and Darren Lockyer - Gorden Tallis fan, Walker is a keen ballet dancer who relaxes in front of the TV watching her favourite show ‘Jeopardy’.
