Kristie Wenben plays Softball because it is fun. The Western
Suburbs junior also plays Hockey and is a Bundaberg rep player.
Coach Chris Pohlmann said "Kristie is one of those kids who
tries her hardest and is keen to learn, and she lives to slide'.
This Simpson's fan is one of the cool kids.
6th December
Brock Cooper

Brock Cooper is 12 years old and started
riding about a year ago. He has an Avanti Giro Road bike which
he got for Christmas last year, and he began track (velodrome)
riding this year.
He started cycling because he has juvenile Arthritis and cycling
helps as it is a no impact sport and keeps his joints moving. He
does prefer road riding over track cycling as it is longer which
means he can ride for longer, and he performs better over the
longer distances as well.
Brock competes at Crit racing on Saturdays and trains on the
velodrome on Monday afternoon and races at the velodrome on
Wednesdays.
Brock is also keen on soccer and plays for Brothers Aston
Villa.

Grace Trebbin
Grace
Trebbin is in her Prep year at school, and the five year old
loves her sport. Not only is she a budding cricketer, she has
swimming lessons and came second in the cross country event at
school.
Her favourite sportsman is not surprisingly dad Neil. ATW
Cricket Club In2Cricket coordinator Noel Stitt said “Grace is an
enthusiastic youngster with a competitive streak, just like her

James Barnett-Suter

Another year 5 student from Childers State School James Barnett-Suter
(10) is a keen athlete and swimmer with shot put and javelin his
favoured events. A Bulldogs supporter in the NRL, James likes
riding his bike at the skate park.
When asked what he particularly liked James said "Maths at
school, my pets Milly and Nuggy the dogs and Kit Kat the cat,
Lasagne, Sponge Bob Square Pants on TV and when it comes to
music I am a 'Pink' fan"

Brendon Schultz

Eight year old Brendon Schultz loves his Tennis and named Roger
Federer as his favourite player, in fact he has little time for
anything else though he did admit to playing Soccer at school.
Brendon is a Broncos supporter and Darren Lockyer fan who loves
playing with his dog ‘Stitch’ and like many of his peers is a
keen fan of cartoon character ‘Ben 10’.

Lachlan Royan

Lachlan Royan is a keen sportsman and plays with ATW in
the under 10 cricket team. He also plays Touch on Friday
night with ‘Vipers’ and plays as a goalkeeper or in the
midfield with Bingera in the soccer season.
A Broncos supporter, Lachlan also enjoys riding his BMX
bike in the bush, Handball and Swimming, freestyle in
particular.
25th October
Colton Brockhurst

Twelve year old Colton Brockhurst plays Softball in both under
14’s and under 16’s for ATW. A keen Broncos and Justin Hodges
fan, Colton plays rugby league at school.
An all-round athlete, he has represented Wide Bay in Cross
Country and when it comes to his preference on TV, Colton is a
fan of Two and a Half Men

Amy Linwood

Ten year old Amy Linwood enjoys her cricket and is a member of
the Norths under 10’s. Amy has a preference for batting (top
score of 12) and bowls medium pace. With a bit of prompting from
Mum, she named Michael Clarke as her favourite sportsperson. She
also plays netball at school.
A budding musician, Amy plays the violin and the flue, with a
preference for the violin which she has played for three years.
She is also a keen dancer and likes jazz in particular.

Deborah Ide

Fourteen year old Deborah Ide is in her first year of Tennis.
Deborah, who plays Volleyball and Soccer at school said she
particularly liked tennis as a form of exercise. Like many young
tennis enthusiasts she named Roger Federer as her favourite
sportsperson.
Coach Murray Whitbread said "Deborah liked the social side of
tennis and really enjoys the game and is a valued member of the
Club".

Georgia Hansen

Georgia Hansen is s member of the Courtney Reynolds Tennis
Academy and performed creditably at the recent CQ Maryborough
Junior Tennis Masters, and also plays at her school, St. Lukes.
Her favourite tennis player is not surprisingly Roger Federer.
Her coach Courtney Reynolds said “Georgia has a strong serve -
volley game for one so young”.
The Broncos and Darren Lockyer fan who will also play Touch in
the coming season, said the ‘Sweet Life of Zac and Cody’ was the
show she most liked to watch on TV.

Hayley Austin

Eight year old Hayley Austin has been playing Indoor Netball for
two years and received a ‘Sportsman’s Award’ last season. The
Norville Primary School student loves sport, especially horse
riding and has her own quarter horse ‘Blu’ and when possible
rides on the weekend with her grandfather. Hayley is one of the
youngest in Queensland to be recognised by the Australian
Quarter Horse Association after logging 250 hours in the saddle.
The active youngster plays Basketball, loves dancing and has a
passion for reading.

Rachel Ratcliffe

Ten year old Rachel Ratcliffe from Childers is enjoying her
first year in the game. It has been a big couple of weeks
for Rachel who was named player of the match last week and
followed up by scoring her first ever goal on Saturday.
This busy Miss is involved in Little A’s with the long jump
her specialty, trains in karate and is a keen dancer with
hip hop and jazz her favourites. At school, Art is her
subject of choice.
Coach Donna Dilger said “ Rachel is enthusiastic, trains
hard and loves the game”

Tristan Taylor

Tristan Taylor (12) has followed dad Ray, a handy Bulldogs
player in his day, into the sport of AFL. Tristan who plays
centre half forward for the Bulldogs in the under 14 comp will
represent Queensland Blaze at the Australian Championships in
Melbourne later this month.
The Avoca Primary School student who also plays basketball, is a
St Kilda supporter and named Nick Reiwoldt as his favourite
player

Seren Wagstaff

Nine year old Seren Wagstaff has been playing Netball for four
years, followed her mum, a coach into the game and is one of
many Intermediate Nippers seen in action on a Saturday. The
Bargara Primary School student with a liking for Art and English
enjoys swimming and T Ball.
Seren admits to being a Broncos fan and said her favourite TV
show is Zoey 101.

Brendan Murray

Ten year old Brendan Murray followed sister Keisha in to the
sport of Hockey. The Avoca primary School student plays for
Raiders in both the under 11 and under 13 competitions Brendan
said “Hockey is fun and it helps me to get fit:”

Playstation with “Kill Zone his favourite game

Jemma Grogan

Jemma Grogan 11, loves her tennis and has now been playing for
seven years. Jemma recently made the final of the Bundaberg
Junior Masters and has previously represented Bundaberg at the
Wide Bay trials. Not surprisingly she named Alicia Molick as her
favourite sportsperson. The St Pat’s student finds that tennis
keeps her fit and healthy.
Jemma has also participated in Netball, Touch and
Gymnastics

Rachelle Mollenhagen

Nine year old Rachelle Mollenhagen has played Netball for three
years and now plays as an Intermediate Nipper. The Norville
Primary School School student also enjoys Indoor Netball.
Rachelle is a budding athlete and will represent Bundaberg
Primary Schools in cross country at the upcoming Wide Bay
selection trials in Gin Gin.
A keen Broncos supporter Rachelle is a Darren Lockyer fan.

Sina Silleman

North Bundaberg Primary School student Sina Silleman is
enjoying her first year playing soccer. The eight year old
plays the game at school as well simply because the game is
fun.. Classmate and friend Jessica is also a member of the
North Bundaberg team.
Nina is a Warriors supporter in the NRL having originally
hailed from New Zealand.

James Connelly

James Connelly has the pedigree of a footballer, being the
son of celebrated coach "Nog" Connelly. The seven year old
St John's Lutheran Primary School student plays stopper for
the Brothers Aston Villains under 8's.
James is a Broncos and Darren Lockyer fan and lists his
other sporting interests as swimming and tae kwon do, and
after his experience with the Milo have a go Cricket hopes
to play in the under 10's next year.

Chelsea Vine

Seven year old Chelsea Vine played her first game of Indoor
Netball on Tuesday. The Wongarra Primary School student will be
back next week for another game.
Chelsea is likely to follow big sister Cassie into Nippers at
Kendall Flats on a Saturday.

Emma O’Beirne

Nine year old Emma O’Beirne is the first Netball “Cold Rock
Star” of 2008. Emma a student at St Mary’s is in her second year
and will again play Nipper Green. At her preferred position of
goal attack Emma particularly likes shooting and scoring goals.
Emma also plays Indoor Netball at the Bundaberg Indoor Sports
Centre and is a keen athlete with Bargara Little A’s. One of
Emma’s friends at the Netball sign on said Emma was the fastest
runner in her age group.

Michael Delaney

Michael Delaney is a member of the YMCA under
12’s cricket team. Michael prefers bowling even though he has a
top score of 29 from 21 balls this season.
The St. Patrick’s student also plays Rugby Union, Tennis and
Golf and is Cowboys supporter, with Jonathon Thurston his
favourite player.

Scott Hawkins

Scott Hawkins, a year 8 student at Kepnock
High School is one of the growing number of youngsters taking to
the bowling greens. Scott, a member at the Burnett Bowls Club is
the Club’s 2007 Junior Singles Champion. Burnett Bowls Club
Junior Liaison Officer Des Kemp said “Scott is a young man with
a lot of talent and is seen as a bowler of the future.
Scott is also a keen cyclist and a member of the Bundaberg
Cycling Club and is the first lawn bowls “Cold Rock Star”.

Kasey Gilbert

Eleven year old Saint Patrick's student Kasey has played
softball for six years. The catcher/pitcher has
represented Bundaberg at both School and Association level.
Kasey plays Touch and is a member of the "Lions", a team in the
under11 girls competition. A Cowboys fan Kasey named Jonathon
Thurston as her favourite player.

Christian Devon

Nine year old Christian Devon is in his third year at the
Bundaberg Little Athletics Centre and Thabeban Athletic Club.
The West Primary School student favours the long jump and Centre
Manager Sylvia McNamara said “Christian puts in a big effort
every week and does his best, and is a keen worker around the
Club.”
Christian is a keen Broncos supporter and a Darren Lockyer fan.

Six year old Zach is a keen cyclist and soccer player. The grade
1 St. Johns student plays soccer for Bargara on Saturdays and
can been seen on the cycling track on Wednesday nights.
The busy youngster is also having swimming lessons, participates
in the after school cycle skills program, and is a huge
Casey Stoner fan.

year old Sarah Marschke is a member of the ‘Bears’ 8-8 girls
Touch team and is enjoying her first year in the sport. Sarah
said ‘I watched my three brothers play last year and it looked
fun”
Sarah plays Softball with ATW and is looking forward to playing
Rugby League next year.
A keen Melbourne Storm fan who
loves watching Sponge Bob Square Pants on TV, Sarah also plays
Netball at school
5th December

Nine year old Mikayla Quinn is in her first year of Touch and
loves it. She is a member of Robins and plays in the under 8/9
girls division. A Panthers fan, Mikayla wears Panthers football
boots and a Panthers teddy is among her prized
possessions.
The busy youngster has represented Bargara Little A’s with the
long jump her pet event and enjoys surfing and body boarding
lessons at school. Mikayla is also keen on dancing, Jazz and Tap
in particular. When quizzed on her television preferences
Mikayla said ‘Home and Away’ was her favourite TV show and that
the best movie she had seen was ‘Bratz’.

Hannah Turner

Eight year old Hannah Turner followed older brother Tristan into
the sport of cricket and is a member of the YMCA under 10’s. A
keen bowler, Hannah was over the moon after taking her first
wicket last weekend.
Hannah is a Darren Lockyer fan and is excited about going to
Brisbane to see him play in the final of the RL World Cup next
weekend. The youngster who said that Andrew Symonds was her
favourite cricketer also is also a keen athlete with the sprints
her pet events.

Rhia Blair

Nine year old Rhia Blair is in year 5 at Childers State School
and is a regular at the Isis District Little Athletes
competition on Friday. her pet events are the 400m and 800m with
Tamsyn Lewis not surprisingly her favourite sports star.
Rhia is a keen basketballer as well who like spending time with
her pets Jingo (dog) and Sissy the cat. A big fan of the 'High
School Musical' she will be over the moon if a drum set is among
her Christmas presents.

Zac Heidrich

Fourteen year old Zac Heidrich is keen on Touch, as well as
travelling each Friday night from Childers for a run with the
Vikings, he also plays in the Childers competition. A keen Storm
supporter and Greg Inglis and Billy Slater fan, he plays second
row or centre with ATW in the local league.
This youngster with a passion for 'rap music' said Athletics was
his favoured school sport, with the 800 metres his pet event.

Brendan Ryan

Six year old Brendan Ryan is the first Taekwondo “Cold Rock
Star’. Brendan, in his prep year at school is keen on swimming,
freestyle in particular and Aus Kick, as well as Taekwondo. He
is also looking forward to having a crack at soccer.
While a Brisbane Lions supporter, his favourite player is
retired Fremantle captain Peter Bell with the Korean connection
no doubt a factor. When it comes to TV, Ben 10 rates number 1
with Brendan.
29th October

Joel Anderson
plays Touch Football, Soccer and Teeball, with Touch his
preferred sport. The eight year old plays for Razorbacks,
coached by Shaun Parter in the under 8-9 boys division.
In the soccer season he plays in the midfield or in defence for
Bingera and in the off season plays Teeball for South Sluggers.
Joel is a Broncos supporter and Darren Lockyer fan who watches
WWE Wrestling when he gets the chance.

\Ramaneesh
and Rudradev

Brothers Ramaneesh (8) and Rudradev (6) from
Chennai in India are in Bundaberg with mum and dad for the
Rotary Cricket Carnival. Not surprisingly the pair are keen
cricketers who both play a bit of tennis. Both are Sachin
Tendulkar fans and the brothers both support the Mumbai Indians
in the Indian Premier League.
The younger Rudradev was keen to say hi to friend Amruta back
home while Ramaneesh was not so forthcoming.
While in Australia Ramaneesh was impressed with the resort at
Mission Beach, in particular the three swimming pools and the
cartoons on TV. Rudradev on the other hand will long remember
touching a baby croc while in Innisfail.

Tasmin Anderson

Ten year old Tasmin Anderson is currently playing her fourth
season of Softball. A keen Netballer, Tasmin is looking forward
to her first competitive season, one in which she will play for
Alloway. Not surprisingly, she named former Australian Netball
captain Vicky Wilson as her favourite sportsperson.
She loves riding her horse ‘Spider’ and plans on joining a local
Pony Club.

Zak Smale

Eight year old Zak Smale is the first Cold Rock Star from the
fishing fraternity. Zak competed in the ANSA Queensland Summer
State Titles over the weekend, his best catch a 1.47kg fork-tail
catfish. Zak likes letting the little ones go in the hope he
will hook them again when they are bigger.

His favourite table fish is Red Emperor and his best catch to
date is a 1.01 metre barramundi caught at Monduran.

Five year old sister Amber is also a keen angler and shows off a
42cm flathead she caught in the Elliot River.

Matt Downie

Ten year old Matt Downie will play in his fourth season with
Brother inin for the under 10’s this season. An accomplished
junior, Matt has a top score of 34 with the bat, and already has
a hat trick to his credit. The hat trick was against his own
club Brothers when filling in for the Panthers. .Mike Hussey is
his favourite cricketer.
A keen soccer player, Matt has played in the mid-field for
Brothers Aston Villa for the past six years. Matt also plays
Rugby League for his school, Easts Primary School

Jamie Lenkeit

Seven year old Jamie Lenkeit is in his second year in the
under 10’s. Like his dad Ian, Jamie plays for Norths and to
date has a top score of 12 with a three wicket hall his best
and he said that Adam Gilchrist was his favourite cricketer.
He is into soccer and touch at school, and plays ten pin
bowling in the Mini Stars League on a Monday.
The youngster is a Titans supporter and Scott Prince fan,
whose number 1 TV show is the Simpsons, with Bart the star
of the show.

Shannon Trigger

Nine year old Shannon Trigger travels from Biggenden each
weekend to play Netball. A student at Coalston Lakes Primary
School (26 kids from prep to year 7), Shannon has a passion for
swimming and represented Biggenden at the Wide Bay titles where
she achieved pb’s in both the 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke.
Not surprisingly Libby Trickett and Stephanie Rice are her
pinups.
Shannon enjoys horse riding at her local Pony Club, competing in
cross country, fishing and surfing and said Blue Water High was
her favourite tv show, while Game Plan was the best movie she
had seen

Jill Gelsomino

Ten year old Jill Gelsomino has been playing
tennis for four years, and just loves the game. Last weekend the
youngster was runner-up in the Maryborough Central Queensland
Junior Masters in the singles, as was also placed second in the
Hervey Bay Junior masters with partner Sammi-Jo Pointon. Anna
Ivanovich the number two ranked player in the world, is the
player Jill most admires.
Her coach Courtney Reynolds said "Jill is a
dedicated trainer who prepares well for her matches and that she
is looking forward to her upcoming tournaments."
Jill also is a keen o softball and plays for
United, and also plays Touch for her school.

Bayley Herwig

At the tender age of six, Bayley Herwig chose Rugby
League over Soccer. The former Waves player now plays
league for the Brothers Shamrocks in an under 7 team
coached by his dad Paul.
The St. Pats student, a Manly supporter named fullback
Brent Stuart as his favourite player and says the best
show on TV is “Wipeout”.

Jamie Burgess

Jamie Burgess, like her mum Natalie, enjoys her Netball. The
eight year old is in her third season and plays in the Nippers
on Saturday. Jamie also plays Basketball and named Bulls player
Jay Anderson as her favourite sportsperson. The East Primary
School student, is an accomplished violinist, having
participated in an Advanced Music Workshop said Math’s was her
number 1 subject at School.
Jamie also enjoys riding her scooter and nominated the Simpsons
as the show not to miss on TV.

Nova Birrell

Eight year old Nova Birrell can not get enough of her chosen
sport of Netball. As well as being a regular at the Indoor
Netball Centre, Nova plays Nippers on a Saturday and is a third
generation netballer following mum Jodie and grandmother Heather
into the sport.
Nova is an avid reader and particularly likes the “Ripley’s
Believe it or Not” books and her favourite TV show is "the Winx"

Beau Harley

Eight year old Beau Harley loves his soccer and is in his
second year in the game, following in the footsteps of
brother Dean. Beau plays rugby league at school and is a
Bulldogs fan like his dad.
Mum Karen his coach said “Beau really looks forward to the
Magic Mini Kickers sessions” Gin Gin played North Bundaberg
on Saturday and Beau was pleased to be in a team with
schoolmates Connor and Nathan.

Gemma Murray

Five year old Gemma Murray is in her second year playing hockey
and loves it. Gemma has followed her older brother and sister
into the game. A Prep School student at Avoca Primary School,
she is a budding chef with pancakes her specialty.
Gemma has a dog “Boof” she is not sure about, but is a big fan
of the cartoon Ben 10 and joins brother Brendan as a “Cold Rock
Star”

Jacob Williams

Seven year old Jacob Williams loves his soccer. The Burnett
Heads Primary School student plays for Across the Waves
Saints and has played for two years now. Jacob, one of seven
siblings plays back yard soccer as often as possible with
older twin brothers Elijah and Brandon. He also plays soccer
at school.
Coach Ted Grohn said “Jacob is a very good striker who works
hard on his game and is a pleasure to coach".

Cooper Lassig

Four year old Cooper Lassig followed dad David, brothers Connor,
Harrison and Jacob in to Hockey and looks forward to his
Saturday mornings. Cooper is doing extremely well in the Minkey
games and scored eight goals in a recent match.
Cooper named the Titans as his NRL team and Ashley Cooper as his
favourite player though the surname seems to be Ashley’s main
claim to fame.
In his spare time the youngster watches the ABC Kids on TV.

Taylor Kirchner

Twelve year old Taylor Kirchner is already accomplished in
her chosen sport of Netball. Taylor who plays division 8
locally with Across the Waves will represent Wide Bay
Schools at the State Championships in June and will also
represent Bundaberg at the Challenge Carnival in Brisbane
over the Queens Birthday weekend.
Taylor intends playing Touch Football in the coming season
and is a keen Storm supporter and Billy Slater fan.

Aaron Barlow

Eight year old Aaron Barlow is the latest Cold Rock Star. The
West State Primary School student plays in the under 10’s on
Friday nights. Aaron plays mini league at school but much
prefers AFL.
The Lions supporter and Jonathon Brown fan hopes to one day play
centre half forward for the Brisbane Lions

Sam Spencer

Seven year old Sam Spencer is in his first season with
Burnett Heads. The Burnett Heads Primary School student is
also a BMX enthusiast but is having a year off after
breaking his arm.
Sam is a Sharks fan who also enjoys going fishing with dad
Scott and looks forward to his trips to the skate bowl with
younger brother Jacob.

Mary Jo Dowsett

Ten year old Mary Jo Dowsett has a passion for tennis and has
been a regular on the court since she was four, which is not
surprising as dad David is a former coach.
The Norville primary School student also plays soccer at school,
and named tennis stars Roger Federer and Ana Ivanovic as her
favourite sports stars.
Mary Jo is the first tennis player to grace the Cold Rock Star
page.

Reyce Hall

Six year old Reyce Hall is the first Football Cold Rock Star
of 2008. The Wongarra Primary School student is a member of
the Bargara Hammerheads who battled it out against BAV
Villains on Saturday. The keen sportsman is a keen surfer
and says Kelly Slater is his favourite sportsperson. Reyce
is also into AFL which he plays on Friday nights though he
got a tad tired with the late start last Friday.
When the subject of Rugby League came up Reyce admitted to
being a Storm fan who no doubt enjoyed their win over the
Broncos.

Connor Lassig

Seven year old Connor Lassig is preparing for his fourth year
playing Hockey. The Walkervale student is also a keen life saver
who likes swimming and the flag races.
When asked what he liked most about Hockey, Connor's quick reply
was "scoring goals and getting your name in the paper and on
justsports.
Connor is the first Hockey "Cold Rock Star' for 2008 and is a
Titans supporter.
